Koru Games

Each year we encourage all of our year 7 & 8 students to participate in the The Koru Games. The Koru Games is a South Island Year 7 & 8 multi-day sports tournament hosted by Selwyn Sports Trust in the Selwyn District and was set up to provide the students with an accessible opportunity to develop their individual skillsets through playing a team sport for their school.

The sports included in 2019 are Badminton, Basketball, Boccia (for physically impaired athletes), Football (soccer), Lawn Bowls, Netball, Rugby Sevens, Table Tennis, Tennis, Touch and Volleyball. All sports are hosted at Selwyn District venues.
2017,Burnham students enter into Basketball, Football (soccer), Lawn Bowls, Touch and Volleyball.

Competition: Koru Games for year 7&8 students only. All sports are hosted at Selwyn District venues.

Training: Team trainings are held during lunchtimes leading up to the Koru Games event. 2017, we had plenty of coaching resource come into school, A basketball coach (who was on a Scholarship at Lincoln University), A club football player, Touch Canterbury and Canterbury Lawn Bowls.
Uniform and Equipment: All equipment for all sports are provided by the school, except for mouth guards and football/rugby boots.
